4 Best Maui Golf Courses
February 28th, 2019
There are 14 golf courses in Maui, and some of those are ranked among the world’s best. Offering unparalleled views, challenging greens, and dramatic settings, Maui golf courses are as iconic as they are fun to play. There’s a reason the PGA Tour’s Tournament of Champions is held in Maui each year.
Royal Ka’anapali Course
The Royal Ka’anapali Course is home to an 18th hole that Arnold Palmer once said was the best and most challenging finishing holes he had played. The par-71 course hugs the rugged coastline of West Maui and even features a hole directly on Black Rock Beach. Royal Ka’anapali is one of only two Hawaii golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.
Ka’anapali Kai Course
The Ka’anapali Kai Course was redesigned by renowned golf course architect, Robin Nelson. The course features narrow fairways and plenty of challenges, as well as a driving range and chipping/putting area. Located in Lahaina, this par-70 course offers stunning views of the West Maui Coast and nearby islands Molokai and Lanai.
Kapalua Bay Course
Kapalua Bay Course opened its doors in 1975 and has been host to more than 20 professional tournaments through its lifetime. In fact, it hosted the first live prime-time golf tournament ever in 1983, the Kapalua International. The course is also home to the only hole in Maui where you can play over the ocean.
The Kapalua Plantation Course is considered to be the No. 1 best course in all of Hawaii. Designed by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore, Kapalua Plantation Course sits along the West Maui Mountains and offers sweeping views of the ocean. This course is a par-73 with enough challenges to keep even the most experienced golfer on their toes. Expect elevation changes and long drives.
