April 20, 2024The East Maui Taro Festival

The East Maui Taro Festival celebrates the towns of Hāna, Kīpahulu, Wailua, Ke‘anae as they share their knowledge and celebrate the significance of kalo through food, farmer’s market, art, culture and entertainment.

April 21, 2024Maui Marathon

The annual Maui Marathon held in Kā‘anapali, are 5 races consisting of a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and Full Marathon Relay. Walkers and runners of all ages and abilities can join.

The annual Maui Brewers Fest usually held in May is a fundraising event for the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, affectionally called The MACC by the locals.  Multiple food and beer vendors with festive live music

2024 TBAOlukai Ho‘olaulea

While this annual event hasn’t returned since 2019, we’re keeping it on our list that the Olukai Ho‘olaulea will occur in 2024. It’s a race for the world’s elite SUP, OC1 & OC2 paddlers and a day to celebrate with canoe sailing and surfing, Hawaiian games, hula and music.

August 12, 2023Emma Farden Sharpe Hula Festival

Emma Farden Sharpe Hula Festival honors “Aunty Emma” who desired to perpetuate hula and the Hawaiian culture. Workshops to learn hula and ukulele will be held along with ‘auana (modern) and kahiko (ancient) hula performances.

The Lāhainā Hongwanji Mission Obon Festival is a much anticipated event in West Maui, honoring deceased ancestors. It’s a Japanese custom that descendants celebrate in Hawaii with food, games and bon dancing

September 16, 2023The Pailolo Challenge

The Pailolo Challenge is a canoe race from the island of Maui to the island of Moloka‘i.  It’s thrilling to see the crews line up and take off from Kapalua’s DT Fleming Beach, and then perhaps stay and enjoy a day at the beach picnicking once they leave.

Hawaii Food & Wine Festival is celebrated in Kā‘anapali with a special “Ocean’s 13 Dinner” featuring a 10-course seafood menu and “Livin’ La Vita Vino” featuring a five-course wine-paired, Italian inspired menu.

Maui Steel Guitar Festival will be held at the Shops at Wailea & Queen Ka‘ahumanu Shopping Center with music, workshops and exhibits.

October 31, 2023Halloween on Front Street

Halloween on Front Streets starts under the Lāhainā Banyan Tree in the afternoon with activities and parade for the keiki.  After dark, the adults come out with raucous and outrageous costumes and behavior.

November 9 – 11, 2023Hula O Na Keiki Competition

Hula O Nā Keiki Hula Competition highlights group and individual hula by children 5 – 17 years old, vying for coveted awards and titles. The 3-day event delves into the kanaka maoli culture including Hawaiian values, language, culture and the art of hula, oli and mele.

November 20 – 22, 2023Maui Jim Maui Invitational NCAA Basketball tournament

The Maui Jim Maui Invitational NCAA Basketball Tournament invites the nation’s top NCAA college basketball teams to Maui.  It’s a thrill to see these teams in action in the intimate setting of the historic Lāhainā Civic Center.
