Founded in 1946 as Aloha Week, Aloha Festivals is the longest-running cultural festival in Hawaii, and 2026 marks its 80th year under the theme “80 Years of Aloha: Our Culture, Our Stories, Celebrating Our Island Home.”

The season opens in early September with the Royal Court Investiture and Opening Ceremony at Helumoa Gardens in Waikīkī, where the Royal Court is introduced with chant, hula, and pageantry. Oʻahu: Waikīkī Hoʻolauleʻa and the Floral Parade
Oʻahu hosts the two largest gatherings. The Waikīkī Hoʻolauleʻa closes Kalākaua Avenue on a Saturday evening in mid-September for what organizers call Hawaii’s largest annual block party, filled with local food, music, and entertainment. Later in the month, the Floral Parade travels from Ala Moana Park along Kalākaua Avenue to Kapiʻolani Park on a Saturday morning, with horseback riders and floats covered in Hawaiian flowers.
Maui Nui: Festivals of Aloha
Maui, Molokaʻi, and Lānaʻi celebrate with Festivals of Aloha, which carries the season into October. Programming has included the Hāna Parade and Hoʻolauleʻa in East Maui, cultural workshops, and the Carmen Hulu Lindsey Leo Haʻihaʻi Contest, the first wahine falsetto competition in Hawaiʻi.
